Spread the love

Congratulations to Nicole, Leigh Anne Cheryl F., & Saralyn for winning this give away!

Calling all crafty mamas!  I have a cool craft that you can do and even get the kids involved!  This craft is so simple and the end result is something useful you can use the whole season!

It’s Napkin Rings!

Remember how I told you I’ve kicked paper napkins and built up my supply of cloth napkins?  Well, another benefit of using cloth napkins is it gives you an excuse to use cute napkin rings!  And, not only is the end result something useful and beautiful you can use with all your fall get-togethers, it is GREEN!  I repurposed some toilet tissue rolls, and I gathered some acorns from our yard.  With a few craft supplies, your kids could even make these!

Okay, so let me lay it all out for ya.  See, what spurred this moment of creativity is Elmer’s recently sent me a HUGE box of cool craft supplies that are available at Walmart to use and challenged me to make something (anything!) that would fit the theme of my blog – wholesome mommy.  Well, I LOVE to craft and I haven’t had a lot of time to do so since Judah’s arrival, so I jumped at the opportunity to cut, paste, and create!  I love all things crafty… but my all-time favourite crafts are personal ones (like my scrapbook pages, and projects that are beautiful and have a purpose!

So, on to the craftiness…

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • toilet tissue tubes
  • X-Acto scissors
  • Straight edge ruler
  • Elmer’s permanent tape runner
  • Elmer’s glue spots
  • Raffia
  • Acorns

First, I measured and cut a toilet paper tube into thirds.  Then, using the tape runner I wrapped and secured the raffia to the toilet tissue tube.  By using the permanent tape runner (or Elmer’s extra strength glue stick would work too) I eliminated the need for hot glue and made this craft kid-friendly!

Once the whole tissue tube is covered with raffia, I attached two acorns using Elmer’s glue spots. That’s it!  Then, run your favourite cloth napkins through your new napkin rings and set your table for a fall feast!

Elmer’s will be selecting one blogger participating in the Elmer’s Crafting Challenge to receive $1,000 to donate to the charity of his or her choice. The winning craft will be selected based on the level of creativity and innovation demonstrated in the craft.  Of course, with my husband’s recent diagnosis of Acute Leukemia, we would love to contribute this donation to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society if I win!  But, whether I win or not, I’m making a whole set of these for my Thanksgiving table along with some nifty place cards I found on the Martha Stewart site!
